Pepal is thrilled that its Uganda Leadership Challenge came away with the Gold medal in the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) CSR Corporate Citizen Trust Awards 2015.

The winners of the 2015 Trust Awards were announced at a special ceremony in Fontainebleau, France on 25 November, where Jane Griffiths, Trust Chairman and Company Group Chairman Janssen EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa) and Frank Welvaert, Managing Director of the Trust presented the Awards.

In total, 42 entries were received from 20 countries across EMEA for the 2015 Awards. The Pepal Uganda Leadership Challenge was honoured with the Gold Award in the health care category. Since 2012, participants from J&J have joined the NGO Baylor-Uganda and public sector healthcare workers to create the award-winning “Caring Together” project whilst developing their own leadership skills.

Launched in 2014, the Awards recognise and celebrate the impact and engagement of J&J’s local CSR programs and partnerships across EMEA. This year there were two Trust Award categories: Health Care Initiatives and Community Engagement & Volunteering with prize money totalling 35,000 euros to be reinvested into the winning programs.

“Caring Together” aims to improve the quality of health services delivered to some of the most remote populations in Rwenzori and Eastern regions, by strengthening leadership, health worker motivation and accountability.
